ESP Eclipse Custom Electric Guitar in Purple Peel

Sound & Tone

The mahogany body and neck with a maple cap and set-neck joint give this Eclipse a thick, sustaining midrange, while the ebony fingerboard and 24.75-inch scale add attack and a slightly warm, compact low end. The EMG JH “Het Set” active pickups push that foundation into tight, high-output territory with controlled bass and clear note separation, so palm-muted riffing stays articulate under heavy gain and leads cut through without harshness. It’s aimed squarely at metal and hard rock rhythm and lead work, though the independent neck and bridge volumes and master tone allow cleaner, rolled-back voicings for lower-gain passages.

ESP Eclipse Custom Electric Guitar Purple Peel

The ESP Eclipse Custom This Japan-made instrument from the ESP Custom Shop represents a refined single-cutaway design optimized for studio recording and professional mixing work, with meticulous attention to sustain retention and frequency clarity. Hand-crafted by world-renowned luthiers, the Eclipse delivers the rare combination of tonal coherence and recording stability across extended takes.

Recording Performance & Construction

Set-neck construction joins a Honduran mahogany neck with a mahogany body and maple cap, yielding consistent sustain and harmonic definition that sits naturally in dense mixes. The thin U contour paired with a 305mm fingerboard radius and 22 XJ (extra-jumbo) frets on an ebony fingerboard with ESP flag inlays enables efficient tracking for both lead lines and rhythm layers. A graphite nut and 24.75-inch scale ensure tuning stability throughout long studio sessions and multiple overdubs.

Tone & Electronics for Mixing

A matched pair of EMG JH “Het Set” active pickups (brushed chrome) deliver articulate high-end definition and punchy low-mid response with tight transient control—the active design maintains consistent output across multiple takes and ensures your recordings capture full dynamic range without signal degradation. Electronics layout features independent neck and bridge volume controls, master tone, and a three-way toggle switch, letting you dial in tonal character during preproduction or quickly rebalance your sound between rhythm and lead overdubs.
