Numan: Race Against Time – VINYL LP

Twelve inch vinyl pressing. Manchester’s Numan Khan, one of Planet Mu’s latest signings, mixes dubstep and grime influences with an idiosyncratic take on rhythm. The A-side of this four-track EP showcases the lush accordion melodies of Race Against Time” and the slower, disco-influenced “Photograph.” the B-side opens with “Voodoo,” combining grimy bass and strings with offbeat drums to odd, driving effect. The 12-inch finishes with “XX,” which sounds like a long-lost 8-bit grime instrumental with deft production tweaks and effects that keep it interesting and effective.”
